Day 5: What is your favourite Jily FanFiction? Why do you love it so much?
Such a difficult question because there are so many flawless fics. Five fics in particular come to mind… Commentarius, The Life and Times, Haggis from Algernon, Love and Other Tragedies, and Prelude to Destiny.
Commentarius by B.C Daily
Lily has always considered herself ordinary. But as she enters her 7th year, things start changing and Lily starts going a bit mad. Suddenly, she’s Head Girl, her mates are acting strangely, and there’s a new James Potter she can’t seem to get rid of.
There are no words to describe my love for this fic. James is the closest thing to perfection. I mean there’s a lot that still needs to be told on his end, but he’s wonderful. The best thing is that Lily is telling the story, diary-form with dialogue and all. I personally love POVs, if done right and getting into Lily’s head… Bee does so beautifully. I just think it’s the greatest thing ever. It’s was so worth the hours of sleep-less nights because once I started, there was no ending…
The Life and Times (TLAT) by Jewels5
She was dramatic. He was dynamic. She was precise. He was impulsive. He was James, and she was Lily, and one day they shared a kiss, but before that they shared many arguments, for he was cocky, and she was sweet, and matters of the heart require time.
TLAT, it’s more head-canon-y in terms of what happened during that Era. I just fully accept it. It literally goes through, not just what happens with James and Lily, but like 12 other characters (not accurate number). I love a lot of the minor characters and that’s a really hard thing to do. To make me want to know more about them… and Jules succeed. I love the story and I will be bawling whenever it finishes… which hopefully is not soon.

The fic about nothing.
I don’t think I have read anything more wonderful with little to no dialogue. It’s literally ramblings in diary-form on this epic ship. I don’t think there’s anything quite like it. One side you have Lily who is clearly lusting after James but can’t do anything but stare at him. She also has these crazy friends that I just love. Karl is adorb. On the other, we have James, who is basically insane and I love him more for it.
Love and Other Tragedies by Fancyeyes
Lily thinks she has life figured out until one night an outburst from James Potter sends her down an unexpected path of self discovery, mistakes, and most importantly- real love. A DIFFERENT explanation for the way things came to be.
I am forever thanking this anon for this rec. I have cried, laughed, thrown a shoe… There’s so many emotions that go through while reading this fic. It’s the perfect combination of angst, comedy, romance. It’s really Lily’s journey on life and love. The story is so wonderful and crazy. It’s really the rare fic that explores what happens after James and Lily get together and the consequence of it. I mean I fully ready to accept this as canon, except for one or two things. I can’t stop gushing over it. I will be bawling the day this story is complete. Bawling.
Prelude to Destiny by brainchild
Lily’s goals were to get over her annoying crush on James Potter and avoid becoming Head Girl, but in 6th year after her ex-boyfriend shows up, everything started spiralling out of control.
This was one fic that more or less took me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did because I was having a difficult time accepting some of the dates. Considering when it was written, I shouldn’t even be prick-ish about it. But when get through it, I just fell in love with the story. I mean, James tries so hard to be the person she wants him to be and not knowing that she had feelings all a long… So much feelings…
